Procurement Analyst


Job description

The Purchasing Analyst is a key player in the supply chain management process, ensuring that the organization maintains a sustainable competitive advantage through strategic sourcing and procurement. This role involves do market research, analysing market data, developing cost-saving strategies, PR to PO process, Spend Analysis and researching vendors and managing supplier relationships to optimize the company’s purchasing activities.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Perform detailed spend analysis to identify opportunities for cost reduction and process improvement. 
  • Develop and maintain spend reports, tracking key metrics and performance indicators. 
  • Analyse procurement data to identify trends, cost savings opportunities, and vendor performance. 
  • Develop and maintain effective supplier relationships, negotiate contracts, and manage supplier performance. 
  • Monitor and analyze production and sales data along with future projections to recommend appropriate order quantities. 
  • Research and make recommendations on potential new vendors based on current business needs. 
  • Conduct comprehensive market research to identify trends, pricing, and potential suppliers. 
  • Analyse market data to forecast procurement needs and inform strategic sourcing decisions. 
  • Stay updated with industry developments and emerging technologies relevant to procurement. 
  • Oversee the entire Purchase Request (PR) to Purchase Order (PO) process, ensuring accuracy and compliance with company policies. 
  • Review and approve purchase requisitions, ensuring they are complete and meet organizational needs. 
  • Provide support to buyers and purchasing units by preparing purchase orders and reviewing requisitions for goods and services. 
  • Work closely with Accounts Payable to ensure that payments are made on time. 
  • Collaborate with third-party partners to determine packaging needs based on projections. 
  • Anticipate supply issues and find solutions before they become a problem. 
  • Evaluate current financial models and develop new processes to create efficiencies within the procurement department. 
  • Regularly review market sales data and present findings on industry trends and competitive analysis. 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Supply Chain, Analytics, or a related field. 
  • 2+ years of experience in purchasing or supply chain management. 
  • Strong analytical skills, superb attention to detail and meticulous record keeping ability. 
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving abilities. 
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other data analysis tools. 
  • Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team. 
  • Flexibility to adapt to different business needs daily in a rapidly evolving industry. 
  • The cannabis industry and Biotrack experience are a plus. 
  • In-depth knowledge of supply chain management and procurement processes. 
  • Strong negotiation skills and the ability to develop cost-saving strategies. 
  • Capability to efficiently analyze data and provide insights for process improvement. 
  • Excellent organizational skills and the ability to prioritize and handle multiple tasks simultaneously. 
  • Must adhere to all laws, regulations, and policies associated with the industry.
